  • Research
This is going to be Shayne's spot for resources he's used for the historical stories he's doing.

I'll be working on Royalty type story and a Regency for Phaze. Though the two themes weren't accepted for their Heat Sheets, I warned my editor they'd be coming her way whether or not the themes were chosen. Mwahahaha

Besides the works in progress, it might help to mention I also have books entitled Battles of the Dark Ages, Handbook to Life in Renaissance Europe, The Making of Victorian Values, The Vatican, and more. Yes, I am going to be doing more historical writing outside of Myc and me doing the usual paranormal. I know Myc wants to write a Crusades novel as well.

His Sire's Heart - Most of my sources for research were the online sites below. I'm fairly knowledgeable about the time period but needed a bit of brushing up. There's also a book called Regency Collections. It was written by Captain Gronow and edited by Christopher Summerville. I received it after I finished the novella, but I found it a fascinating insight into the Regency.

In the story I make a short mention of the Countess of Jersey. I don't know about any other Regency writers, but I kept looking over my shoulder. I was half afraid the grande dame was watching just in case I didn't write her in the appropriate fashion.
I'm making a note to myself to write more works placed in the Regency. It's one of my favorite time periods.

Update: His Sire's Heart was accepted by Torquere Press and will published early 2009.

http://www.chinet.com/~laura/html/titles12.html -- I referred quite a bit to this page to remember how each Regency peerage would be addressed as.

http://www.gleeson.us/faro/ -- I had a great deal of fun at this site, learning to play Faro.

Blood Beginnings - I'm using a combination of online sites and research books for this work. I'm working on Khasekhemwy's story right now. The thing with writing ancient history is that it's great deal of a few facts here, a few facts there and most is the author's imagination. Blood Beginnings is a historical in the sense that it takes place in Ancient Egypt and Rome. But all of the paranormal elements with Osiris, Isis and Seth are all my own.
