There were many reasons she adored her father, and she always worried about him. Forgetting to call Stan wasn’t like him. Parking the car in her designated spot, Persys went into the apartment. "Amy, I’m back. Get out here and help me unload the groceries." Setting her keys on the counter, Persys waited until Amy came out from her bedroom. "You get anything good?" Ever hopeful, Amy walked out and headed to the front door. "Yeah, yeah, I picked up some Doritos and Twinkies for you." Pretending to grumble about it, Persys followed her outside. "Not nearly enough. I guess I’ll have to make a few trips myself. I‘m not the only snacking fiend in this house so keep your hands off my Twinkies." Amy passed several bags to Persys then grabbed the rest. "I bought a box for each of us. That should last few weeks." Persys retorted dryly as they went back into the house. Making her way passed the stacked boxes, she headed into the kitchen and put everything on the counter. Amy dug the tea bags and coffee can out of the bags and began to make them some tea and coffee. Persys started putting everything away. "I got my bedroom organized a bit better and got everything in the bathroom. Not gonna worry about the living room until tomorrow. Tonight I think we should go out and do something." "We already went to the movies, Amy." Stacking the meat in the freezer, Persys paused to look at her. "Oh, I’m thinking something much better than that." She took the tea out of the microwave then put the cup on the counter for Persys. Occasionally Amy’s brain farts tended to get Persys in trouble. She eyed her best friend somewhat warily as she continued putting the rest of the groceries away. "Exactly what are you thinking? And I know I’ll probably regret asking." "I say we go down to the blood shop." Amy directed a bland look at her, fixing her own coffee. "Amy." Persys shook her head. "I don’t think that’s a good idea." "Your dad won’t be there. He said he had to go to Woodhaven. So we don’t have to worry about him seeing us, and nobody else knows who we are." Taking on a wheedling tone, Amy added, "Ah, come on, Persys. Let’s just go and see what it’s like." "We’ve got to unpack." Persys half-heartedly protested. In reality she was just as curious as Amy. "I got tomorrow off, and I promise to get the rest done while you’re at work. This is your only night off, and we have to make the most of it." "I guess it wouldn’t do any harm to stop by the place." Shooting a warning look in Amy’s direction, she felt she had to say, "But we’re not staying long." "I knew you wanted too." Amy crowed gleefully then hurriedly off to change her clothes, forgetting about her coffee.
