2nd rule, if you want a vamp char, it has to have an in game Sire, no sanctioning til one is found. Which means you haunt the sanctioning room and OOC rooms looking around for somebody willing to Sire your char. Remember Cam chars need Prince's approval for Siring and Sabbat chars are now limited to one siring a month. Indys have no such worries last I heard.
If you want a Werewolf, that Were has to have a pack. So you won't get sanctioned til he/she has one.
And ghouls must have an ingame domitor. Again, no sanctioning until your char has one. However, you can get a mortal sanctioned fairly easily as long as your char sheet is in order and you have a good concept, background for the char. For now, thieves, criminals, musicians and the like are plentiful in New Bremen (the Cam city) and Mesa (Sabbat city) so the ST's like a little more variety for the concept of your char.
On your sheets keep things reasonable. Especially on merits and flaws and backgrounds. Many merits and flaws are banned because of misuse. Again check that list. No resources 4 without a damn good reason and no inheritance isn't acceptable. Your char is a doctor or lawyer or something along that line could have resource 4. But if you have a beach bum, the ST's won't let you have Resources 4. Another word of warning, say your char is a doctor, I would advise having a bit of medical knowledge in your own background. Simply because your doctor is likely to work at the Central Hospital. And yes, it has real PC patients. Not to mention you will probably also get PM's (private messages) from other players wanting you to help their char.
Another word of warning, if you have a gun toting char that likes to cause problems, they do have a jail and yes, chars can be and ARE sentenced to that jail. Which means you get to either RP only in the jail or get another char so you can at least RP elsewhere. The police presence in New Bremen is very good and they are working on getting a police presence in Mesa right now.
The last time I saw a desanctioning (the ST's take away that icon next to your char's name that you worked so hard to get and puts a red X back next to the char name) was because a Were decided to walk into Mesa and randomly kill whomever he saw. One girl was attacked when she was doing no more than sitting on a bench waiting for a bus, another was attacked for having a dragon tattoo. First the sight of an black vamp Icon does NOT tell your char IC what he/she is dealing with. Which is pretty much why the Were attacked said people. Two the ST's have no tolerance for such bullshit. Sitting at a bench and having a dragon tatoo don't qualify as good IC reasons for trying to attack someone. The offending Were was quickly desanctioned. So I don't advise on creating a char to go on a killing spree in the WW rooms.
For help in creating a starting char use the Create A Char link on the main page. That will give the rules for vamps, mortals, ghouls, and sorcerers.
During in game play, Sabbat chars are only allowed in the Mesa rooms. To go into NB, you must have an ST accompany you. And same for Cam chars and Mesa...don't go there without an ST. Pay attention to the day and night cycle. Day lasts about 2 hours and night is about 3 hours. If your vamp goes out when it is day in the room, it's fried. That's it. And no RPing in private rooms in WW with a vamp during the day cycle. You will be desanctioned if you get caught by an ST. You get to seat in the OOC rooms with the rest of us.
I am greatly enjoying my time playing in the rooms, so far my Lasombra's creation rites were disrupted by zombies (zombies were played by an ST to add an extra effect to the scene and it was hilarious) and now finds herself in a pack lead by a Brujah Anti whose mission is to find out if it it is the former Prince of NB that is hiding in Mesa sewers and doing the Cam spying bit, plus my Tzimisce is in deep angst cuz of the Nos pack that took her in. Most of the people I have played with are a decent bunch. But you never know when that meglomanical Nos will pop up. *winks at Marcus*
I highly recommend trying out the rooms and give yourself some time to meet the others and let them see your style of play. And don't bring your char into a room then wander around expecting something to happen and complain when it doesn't or that nobody RPs with you. Take your char out there starting talking to other chars. Take the initative.
Have fun in the rooms and enjoy, just remember NEVER ARGUE WITH THE ST'S *L*
